Bio

Allison Crutchfield is an artist, illustrator, and costume designer. She has a Masters in Fine Arts (Costume Design) from the University of California: San Diego, and a Bachelors in Fine Arts from the University of Connecticut.

Allison is currently the Costume Studio Manager and Hair and Makeup Specialist at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida. Allison is the Vice Commissioner of the Costume Labs and Studios for USITT and a proud member of IATSE United Scenic Artist Local 829.

Some of her  New York Costume Design credits include Only Yesterday (2019) and Trick or Treat (2019) at 59E59th Street Theatre; Elephant (2018) with Rising Sun Performance Co; Ubu Roi (2017), Electra (2014), Spring Awakening (2013), Columbinus (2103), and Marisol (2013), at Queensborough Community Collage, CUNY; Winter (2011) with Studio Six; Dr. Faustus (2011) and The Frogs (2011) with Fault Line Theatre; Love’s Labors Lost (2104),  Macbeth (2013), The 2010 New Voices Play Festival, and The 2010 New Visions Play Festival at The New School; Rent (2012) Macbeth (2011), Fame (2010), The Tempest (2010), and Scapin (2009) at York CUNY; and Hamlet (2010) at The Gallery Players.

Some Regional Costume Design highlights include A Doll’s House, Part 2 (2022) and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (2022) at Rollins College FL, Only Yesterday (2018), Mamma Mia (2017), Trick or Treat (2017), Into the Woods (2014) and 12 Angry Men (2013) at Northern Stage VT. Shrek the Musical (2016), Crazy for You (2016), The Mystery of Edwin Drood (2015), Les Miserables (2013), Oklahoma! (2012), Ragtime (2012), A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum (2011), Almost, Maine (2011), and Chicago (2011) at the New London Barn Playhouse. The Director’s Showcase (2006), Richard the 3rd (2005), Galileo (2004) at the Trinity/ Brown Consortium, Providence RI and A Christmas Carol (2003) and W.R.E.N.S (2003) at the Connecticut Repertory Theatre.

UC San Diego Costume Design credits include 1001 (2009), The Attic Dwellers (2008), Pericles, Prince of Tyre (2008), and Red State, Blue Grass (2007).

Some Assistant Costume Design highlights include The Night Watcher (2008) at The La Jolla Playhouse, Arsenic and Old Lace (2007) at The Alley Theater, Houston, and The Stillborn Lover (2003) at The Berkshire Theatre Festival.

Allison won a certificate of merit from KCACTF in 2015 for her costume design for Big Love at Queensborough Community College. Allison won a 2015 New Hampshire Theater Award — Best Costume Design, for The Mystery of Edwin Drood and  a 2012 New Hampshire Theater Award — Best Costume Design, for Ragtime at the New London Barn Playhouse. She was nominated for a 2016 New Hampshire Theater Award for Shrek, The Musical and a 2011 New Hampshire Theater Award for A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum.

Allison has received the UC San Diego Teaching Assistant Achievement Award in 2009, Patrons Award for Excellence in 2004 from The Connecticut Repertory Theater, and the New England Scholar Award for Outstanding Scholastic Achievement from the University of Connecticut in 2003 & 2004. In February 2015 she joined Local USA 829 IATSE.

She has worked backstage at The Connecticut Repertory Theatre (2000-2004), The Berkshire Theatre Festival (2003), Glimmerglass Opera (2004), and Trinity Repertory Theatre (2004-2006).

She was the Production Manager for the New London Barn Playhouse from  2014 to 2015. Allison was the Operations and Production Manager for A to Z Theatrical in Orlando, FL from 2018 to 2020.
